Call for papers vol. 8/2026
Conceived as a “space” for meeting, exchange, and discussion, the journal, in line with its interdisciplinary scientific approach, is organized into three sections: Section I (Articles) includes methodological and theoretical essays as well as research-oriented contributions in the field of history education; Section II (Experiences) welcomes reports on experimental practices and significant educational experiences; Section III (Reviews) hosts reflections, readings, book reviews, and conference reports. For the publication of Issue VIII (2026), the journal welcomes contributions addressing all areas of history education. However, this issue will place a particular focus on the relationship between medieval heritage and history education, with special attention to educational practices, cultural mediation tools, and innovative methodologies. Contributions addressing these themes are especially encouraged, while proposals concerning other chronological contexts, methodological perspectives, and educational topics remain welcome. Medieval heritage — both tangible and intangible — represents a crucial node in the construction of historical narratives, collective identities, and citizenship competences. Castles, abbeys, urban centers, archives, iconographies, traditions, documentary and archaeological sources are not only objects of preservation but also cultural devices through which the relationship between past and present is shaped. In educational contexts, the Middle Ages are often affected by stereotypes, simplifications, and problematic public uses, making a solid historiographically grounded methodological and didactic reflection particularly necessary. The issue therefore aims to explore medieval heritage as a didactic laboratory, a space for research-action, and a privileged field for developing historical thinking. The journal accepts original, unpublished contributions in Italian, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Submissions must be received no later than 30 June 2026 and must comply with the editorial guidelines available at: https://dsrivista.unibo.it/information/authors. The Editorial Board thanks in advance all those who wish to submit a contribution for this issue and reserves the right to select the texts to be published.
