Abstract

This article intends to reflect about the study of the city taking as a reference Ijuí, a small city in the south of Brazil. It presents methodological possibilities to study the city and its history specially using photographs from the collection of the Museu Antropológico Diretor Pestana and from two plastic artists whose work portrays the same region in the city. First, it pursues the study of the city. Then, the study of the city of Ijuí through history and images. Both the photographs and the images refer to different time periods, making it possible for the students from basic education to university to know the history of the city so they can take their place in it - or not.
