The current times of coping with COVID-19 pandemic raises different questions and doubts. In order to reflect about what children think and feel since social isolation became necessary to prevent infection is that this research was performed. The methodology is guided by the critical-hermeneutic perspective in both documentary and bibliographic analysis as well as in the planning and development of a didactic questionnaire responded by students in the fifth grade of a public elementary school in Santo Angelo, Brazil. It was perceived that most children have ties with the places where their friends and relatives live and that trying to comprehend how they feel can reveal what is to be done to face the challenges of the post-pandemic world, as education professionals as well as society.
