The first part of this report describes an educational aid kept at the Museo dell’Educazione of the University of Padua, a synoptic table entitled Da Romolo a Mussolini. It shows several peculiarities of the educational policy of the fascist regime, above all the method and the aims of the teaching of history. The second part, starting with some epistemological reflections, presents a potential use of this educational aid for the study of the Italian Risorgimento. It shows the distortions of the regime’s historiography and places the Italian history in the international context; but it also remembers that this historiographic and educational method began in Italian schools only in the second half of the last century.
